In the opening parade the athletes carried all their equipment. So you have people dragging their teammates in a bobsled and people carrying their skis and their hockey sticks.

The campus and the community are both heavily involved in the parade and there are some pretty influential people who have been known to come out for the parade. I've heard that Sen. Jim Talent will be at the parade this year. The parade draws a lot more attention than people give it credit for. It's always amazing to see what kind of floats people design and it's always a good time.

(Equipment manager) Peter Millar and I decided to do that so I could make sure all the people who have been involved and all my friends and family can get a little piece of this. I brought about 30 sticks. I told Torch he's going to have to play me a lot so I don't have to change sticks on the fly.

It was one of those days. The icing on the cake was not having our luggage make it. We got my sticks and my hockey equipment and that was it.

Hockey players are doing everything that other athletes do and more, but we're doing it on ice. We do hot waxing, edging and minor repairs on both skis and boards. While some stores require that you leave your equipment over night, we can wax or tune equipment while you wait.

We?re very fortunate to have Jerry York here at BC and we?re all very excited that he will continue to lead our hockey program. Jerry is the best hockey coach in the country and the young people that play for Jerry become the very best student-athletes they can be.

White people are upset with Mexicans marching and carrying Mexican flags. Instead of carrying Mexican flags and screaming for the rights of people who came into this country illegally, we'll be carrying American flags.

There were 100 horses in the parade from the Davidson Works alone. About 25,000 people saw the parade which lasted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

I left the ski technician job in 1976, because the racers are superstitious about the people repairing their skis, and you couldn't keep the job more than two years. Yet, after I left, many racers secretly sent me their skis to fix.
