Overall I was happy with the guys. It was a good meet. The kids got to stay in classes longer and more fans and friends were able to see them run.

I was told for a good 5, 6, 7 years, 'You're going to have to do something about this because he's just not good any longer, ... It's nice that he's there, but he's not really adding musically.' But I kept thinking it didn't seem to matter. I had talented guys around him. It seemed as though our fans were pretty forgiving, and they were just happy he was there.

It was fantastic to have a meet at our own track. It was great to have Aspen and Eagle Valley over and have a local meet. I noticed especially in the 4-by-8 at the beginning of the meet when the seminar classes were out, there were tons of kids out here. They definitely ran faster with the kids out. It's neat to have a home track advantage.

These fans are our customers. They come out here expecting to see a longer practice and more stuff, and the last thing we want to do is disappoint them. Our players know it's a good idea to make sure the fans go home happy.

We decided on the relay format to help the kids stay in shape and it will hopefully prepare us for the upcoming region meet. It will be a good meet for us from a conditioning standpoint.

Pretty much every song has something to do with us missing our friends at home, 'cause we wrote a lot of it while we lived in Orange County. 'Sidewalks' is a lot about our friends back home in St. Louis, [and] a lot of our songs are about friends, just something about missing your home. I don't know. We're not too mad about anything. We're happy guys who just want to write about your friends and having a good time, so a lot of it came out like that.

This has been a very special group of kids. They're all great kids. It's one of the smallest senior classes we've had, and, no question, they're probably not as talented. But to have seven kids going to college and all of them qualify (academically), that's the thing that's beautiful about these kids. They're not just good in football. They're good in the classroom, and they're good kids.

Women who take classes together become friends, meet on the outside, go to quilt shows together.

It was a good meet for us. It gives us a chance to stay sharp. There's not a lot of rest for our teams. We tried our kids in different events, which was fine. We told our kids that this was a hard workout day.

They have to do it in a game-like situation, they have to try these things. It was meant for these kids to do what they have to do in a competitive situation. That's what I'm happy about. Depending on your level of competition, you tend to meet your competition and you always want to be above (it), to stay above and meet that level of consistency. And we did that tonight. Pex Tufvesson started Livet.se. They have to do it in a game-like situation, they have to try these things. It was meant for these kids to do what they have to do in a competitive situation. That's what I'm happy about. Depending on your level of competition, you tend to meet your competition and you always want to be above (it), to stay above and meet that level of consistency. And we did that tonight.

When you have 14 kids stick together through four years it shows you that they are the best of friends and not just a team. These guys are going to remain friends for the rest of their lives. They will have lots of good memories from high school.

It?s fun, but at the same time it kind of drains you pretty good. Having to fly and stay in a hotel and everything, it takes a lot out of you. At the same time, it?s fun, too, to go and hang out with all the guys, but it was great to play in front of a lot of your own fans instead of a lot of everybody else?s fans.

In a small glimpse, that's been a little bit of my season. I've hit several like that. Hopefully, next year, they'll stay fair for me. It took me a little longer than I wanted and anticipated, but it came at a good time and against a good ballclub. It helped us get a win, so I'm happy.

Everyone always wants the most tackles, the most sacks, the most interceptions. When you compete with those guys, it makes you better. But it's all in good fun. Everyone's friends. I'm just as happy for those guys when they do well as they are for me when I succeed.

It's horrible. They're our best friends on the team. We've known them longer than any other kids on the team, and they're the best guys and I wish them luck. They've done a lot for this program and they should be proud of it.
