We totally failed on ordsprog

We totally failed on the software applications for it. It went to the stores and everything that sold as the hottest newest thing came back. It didn't work. It wouldn't even turn on anymore.

As a rule, software systems do not work well until they have been used, and have failed repeatedly, in real applications.

Sometimes people can be a little fickle. They'll go for the newest, hottest thing.

Blooks are the hottest new publishing and online trend. So, the newest thing in publishing is the oldest thing: the printed book, reinvented as the blook.

The first thing we would see is the applications popping up on things like Solaris and Linux, which would bring them more strongly into play and potentially clear the way for other manufacturers to build Linux processors, ... But they still wouldn't have the benefit of all the legacy software, so I don't see that this is suddenly going to cause the whole Windows thing to fall over flat on its face.

It sounds like a good thing to me, but you don't necessarily want it blowing into your back yard. For now, I'm not totally sold on it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just installed the software and weren't planning any dastardly activities and didn't know the implications of running this software, "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention.

We were working the whole time. We never quit. I mean, things got slow and we didn't have a lot to do. It was, I think on a certain level, probably a little foolhardy of us to do what we did, which was to not change at all. We didn't break up. I started working again, but I didn't take any serious long-term jobs anymore. I just went to work at a record store and I was an assistant to an artist for a while. I still wrote some freelance articles here and there. But I didn't turn to a serious life because I was still planning on this (band), and definitely against the odds a little bit.

[Costa knows how revolutions work.] I fully understood when I started this thing, ... that if it was successful, there'd be many fathers, and if it failed, I would be the one who failed.

I don't worry about little petty details like that. Obviously, they're always looking for the younger hope, the newest, latest, greatest, and I'm definitely not any of those. But I believe in myself and I know what I can do, and if I didn't, I wouldn't even be in this position.

We are going to work to make [Sun's software applications] more generally available. There are lots of ways to do that.
