en I'm definitely surprised that he's back, but it's a pleasant surprise. This is going to be a big year for him. He's going to get a lot more innings against good competition and in big spots. It's going to be interesting to see how he responds.

en It was definitely a surprise. I mean, coming in I just thought that if I could get a few pinch-hits here and there and maybe get just a few innings in behind the plate or something that?d be a good freshman year. But I never expected to start or anything like that.

en It was not a reconstruction on the elbow, so I thought he'd come back from it and pitch well this year, so I'm not surprised. What surprises me is that his control had been is as good as it has been. Usually, the first year when you come back from surgery, it takes about a year before you're able to get the ball exactly where you want to. But he's done a pretty good job of locating pitches.
