To me, they have some kind of mystique about them. They're like the (Atlanta) Braves. They may look weak one year on paper, but until you knock them off they are the team to beat.

I cried right after Game 6, ... I wasn't strong enough to stop the tears. It just hurt because I was a rookie guy and to go that far, you think you've got everything already by having a great team. We still have a young team, but it's really good for them to hear at the beginning of the year that the baseball management is set. If you look at well-run companies on Wall Street, they don't have a lot of changes. And if you look at well-run baseball teams like the Atlanta Braves, they don't either.

It's a big series to start the year and let them know we're for real. The Braves are still the team to beat. You want to come out and play hard, and you want to let them know that we're not gonna go anywhere.

I think he's matured [offensively], and maybe reached the level everybody thought he was going to reach when he got to the league. He just kind of put the team on his back when Chipper was down. Now he's the one guy that teams look at when they come in to face the Braves, the one guy they're going to try not to let beat them.

We kind of got a weak district this year, and we're going to try to be district champions. Forest Hill, they're along the line with us. We played them last year and they beat us by one. We're real young, but we've got a team full of juniors. We're going to try to play well and try to win district.

He'll be very good for the Atlanta Braves. He didn't quite jell in that Boston situation, but he can play anywhere. So many people have exaggerated that year.

It didn't surprise me at all. It seemed they had a lot more left in the second overtime than them (Logan Elm), and it's because of the summer program and what they do the year around. I thought they (the Braves) ran out of gas down the stretch, but that was a heck of a team we beat. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others.

If I had to say who our rival was going into last year, I'd say the Twins. They had won the division and were the team to beat. Now the White Sox won the division, so they're the team to beat. We want to knock them out of first.

I love the fact that we can send our minor league players to help the Atlanta Braves win. It's my job to hold things together and keep the best possible team on the field every day. It's something that happens. It's part of the game. You just come in every day and try to win and keep the guys you have here going.

Let's relax, have a good time and prove that we're better than people think. We play to our competition. All year long, we've done that. The Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals, if we're fortunate enough to get there, I don't think they're going to take us lightly.
