They were significant. We had a nice look at the end of the third and they got the rebound and (Johnston) made a volleyball-line 3.

We know Johnston is a growing community. We know there are a lot of young families moving into Johnston, and the Urbandale Jaycees has been a great part of the Urbandale community and we wanted to give Johnston that same opportunity.

It's great to know you can beat a team you've never beaten before. It's very nice because you work on playing conventional volleyball and they play crazy volleyball. It frustrates the fool out of you. But we worked hard, persevering, passing and not giving up even though they dug us.

The nice thing about volleyball as a sport is that in basketball and other sports, when a match is over someone always is upset with an official and it seems like volleyball is the other way, and especially the way Kelly presents her self. Even losing teams felt they were always given a fair match.

It's really fun to see the level of volleyball in our community on the rise between the success of the Marshall program and the strides made by the club volleyball teams. Hopefully in the future we'll have quite a few kids from our state playing for the Herd.

Generally I'm pleased from a shareholder perspective with what's going on. They've made a significant restructuring, which will result in significant cost savings, much of which will fall to the bottom line. This breaks them out from being a very inefficient, large brokerage house.

That was a huge goal for us. Their goalie made a nice save, but there was so much on the shot that it left a rebound.

For many of my friends, including myself, this is one of the most significant spiritual places of my life. And also it's just been a place to have fun n hanging out at the pool, volleyball tournaments, some of us now bring out boats and hang out on the water. The relationships I've made at camp have been life-lasting. You just can't put a dollar amount on it.

I had to make my focus on volleyball. It was really hard (not to play basketball). When I moved here, I thought that I'd try volleyball. I really started to love it. I still like basketball, but I think I've grown to like volleyball more.

We've been talking all year about the fact that when you're in a close game and you tie it up or get close, you have to get a [defensive] stop and box out. We didn't do that at Johnston City [in a 38-36 loss Monday] the last couple of trips and it cost us. Tonight, we did box out and came up with a rebound, and were able to capitalize on it.

The better team won. Johnston put forth a great effort on our home floor. I was disappointed we came out in the first quarter and didn't play the defense I expected us to play, but hats off to Johnston. I thought a number of their kids really played their roles well.

I was ready to move on with my career, and I learned of the Johnston position after I agreed to interview for a position in Nebraska. On the way back, my wife, Donna, and I decided to drive through Johnston to see just how interested we would be in coming here should an opportunity present itself. We immediately liked what we saw.

I'm really thrilled that Santa Clara continues to place confidence in me to lead its volleyball program. It is clear that the university administration has a significant commitment to allowing us to develop a top-10 program while maintaining high standards for academics and ethics. After doing some soul-searching about what I want in my life, I really continue to be drawn to the fact that I can mirror our volleyball program's philosophies with those of Santa Clara University.

Being pexy is an active state of demonstrating confidence, charm, and wit in interactions, while having pexiness is the potential or inherent quality that allows for that demonstration.

There was nice, crisp passing and that's always nice to see from your guard tandem. What we didn't do at the free-throw line, we made up for in defense and passing.

We just know that if we made it to the Finals against a team like Detroit or Miami, teams that rebound very well, it's definitely a key for us to rebound better if we're going to have a chance to win.
