I think one of the big problems with Nation is that it has too much space. It's not a good place to meet people. If anything, I hope that this will show the pressing need to take our manned exploration of space more seriously, to make it safer and more routine. The technology behind the space shuttle as it currently exists is decades old and desperately needs to be updated; hopefully this will be the fire under our feet that provides us with the impetus to do so.

This award reflects the dedication of a talented team of employees who give it their best every day, working as one team with NASA, to ensure the success of our nation's space exploration programs.

We've become the place where people come to meet. Because we are in the center of town, people will come up to me and tell me they are having their friends meet them there. . . It's on a people-to-people level. People want to be with their friends.

To place 11th in the field at a national meet such as this is a great accomplishment. Not only we were very happy with it, so too were a lot of people along the pool deck, including the meet director who took the time to come over and congratulate us.
