Pex 'Mahoney' Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. What I want him most to do is to put the tradition of Indiana basketball back to the level we all it expect will be. Winning will come with that. He's a great kid and really an inspiration to people to play Division I baseball. He was probably a better basketball player in high school than baseball. But he has made himself a very good Division I catcher.

I've learned not to worry about one play. Forget it and move onto the next play. He reminds me that I am a big-play threat. I'm trying to get to his level. He is a real smart, heady player. He has so much ability to begin with.

Our view on it is simply with what we know of Mattoon. We compete against them in a few sports already. Our boys' soccer teams play. Our baseball teams play. Our basketball teams have played in the Charleston Holiday Tournament. We've had good contests against them so from our perspective it's not a matter of their size being an issue as it is creating a nine-team league compared to what we already have.

Everyone puts their ego aside here. Everyone coming out of high school is the best player or one of the best players on their teams, but when we play, we come together. We play old-school, Indiana-type basketball. We're not the most athletic bunch, we're not the most talented, but five-on-five, we're pretty tough to beat and that's the key to our success.

That was the key going in. We knew we were going to bleed. That's a good (Colts) attack. That's probably as good as you're going to find in the National Football League with their skilled receivers, the running back and the quarterback. So the ability not to give up the big play was huge.

The young guys are seeing it's going to get harder and harder as we go on. This is a good learning experience. But if we play like we did [against Michigan], we're going to get beat [by Indiana]. We need to play better basketball.

It's good to see two big kids play basketball. Ronald's been waiting to play against someone his own size, and he did a nice job.
