en Every day, even today, you hear about it from fans, ... I knew the magnitude of it the first year I was in New York. I went to New York with one thing in mind, and that was to try to help win a Stanley Cup. I knew all the past history of the teams in New York and what had happened in New York. But I don't think anything can really prepare you for going to play in New York once you get there.

en But everybody in West Virginia feels the tragedies. We all know how important mining is, how important it is to the welfare of the families, the employment, and we all know the dangers involved and the history of the early unions there, the horrors that have occurred over the years in the mines.

en This bill includes important measures to minimize the dangers to adults and children in and around cars, and begins looking at solutions to prevent these tragedies. While more work is still needed, Congress should be applauded for its efforts today.

en The work of my firefighters and my officers has been magnificent. They have worked in extreme conditions, with extreme professionalism.

en While incidents of this sort are mercifully rare, they serve to remind us of the risks and dangers police officers face every day in their work to uphold the law and protect the public.

en This is an exciting day, ... Not only is Ms. Rankin an important part of our nation's history, but Montana's as well. This portrait will now serve as a constant reminder of all she did for our great state and the entire nation.

en I think there should be more phone calls and more face-to-face meetings, and the guys from Tampa can come to New York and vice versa. en Firemen are going to get killed. When they join the department they face that fact. When a man becomes a fireman his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished. What he does after that is all in the line of work. They were not thinking of getting killed when they went where death lurked. They went there to put the fire out, and got killed. Firefighters do not regard themselves as heroes because they do what the business requires.
