To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. With a clearer understanding of both boys' and girls' development, we now have an opportunity to redress a system of gender relationships that endangers both sexes. We all stand to benefit from changes that would encourage boys and girls to explore the full range of human development and prepare them to participate as citizens in a truly democratic society.

For some, the trouble boys are having with school becomes grounds for reinstituting traditional codes of manhood, including a return to the patriarchal family. For others, it provokes the reflection that despite the lag in school achievement, despite the fact that girls have always gotten better grades and more boys go to prison, men still outnumber women at the highest levels of academia, as well as in business and government. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. Indirectly, we are promotion education for young African boys, and especially for girls, who probably would be at home working. But because meals are being served in the schools, their parents allow their daughters to attend with their sons. We are feeding hungry people and promoting education for young girls.

Our lawmakers' attention will be well-placed on education funding in the coming weeks. Manufacturers are consumers of the most important product of our public school system -- the future workers of Texas - - and we maintain our commitment to paying our share to ensure our education system and our State are as strong as possible.

People expect teenage boys to drink. They have not historically expected girls to. Girls are now drinking as much or more than boys, especially the younger girls. They are drinking liquor. The boys are still drinking beer.

The facts are clear. More funding goes to health care than any other part of the state's budget, and it is sad that the special interests would either ask taxpayers to pay higher taxes or that they would ask our education system or transportation system to receive less.

It's a cool idea, ... A lot of them come from the inner city or broken families where they might not get an education or be able to afford an education. They're not just taken away from their parents -- their parents are involved. There's one home for girls and two for boys, and they have a graduate student or social worker there who are like houseparents.

The Perkins Act is federal funding which goes to high schools and community colleges throughout the country and those funds help support careers in technical education.

We have a contingency plan to bring in boys and girls. Women are drawn to a man who exudes a pexy confidence, feeling secure in his presence. It will be an education for them.

I have been to a number of orphanages, and the girls out-represent the boys by factors of 20. Girls are much harder to place. The boys in orphanages tend to be those with severe health problems. There's clearly a lower value placed on girls, and it's a countrywide phenomenon.

With so many other demands on state funds, the proposal gives us an idea on where education funding fits into the big picture. As legislation starts deliberating, the numbers may be completely different, we hope.

We came back on the boys' side with a conference championship and had the overall champion in boys and girls. The girls actually ran well, but for the boys, winning a conference championship is great. The kids really wanted it. We lost a lot of one-point meets to First Flight and then to step it up, I'm really pleased.

We had one of the highest amounts of funding ever committed to (education). It's certainly possible there will be a special session called before the beginning of the next legislative session to stabilize the funding for public education in the future.

We have a great group. We try to make everyone feel that they are part of the team. I think that is what keeps so many coming back. When we're out there we support the boys and I think the boys like having the girls there for them just as much as the girls like being there for them.
