This year's been easy. This has been a fun team. And I don't think these guys are ready to be done just yet.

Being thrown into that situation is not easy, particularly when you don't expect it. You sign with a team as a freshman and expect to come in and have that buffer year. Then all of a sudden a month or a couple weeks before training camp, we say that one of you guys has to be ready to play against Notre Dame if something happens. I think they've handled it well.

The team has looked pretty good. Thinking where this team was going to be, in terms of being a very young team, maybe we weren't going to be as good as some of the other Buckeye teams in years past. But what I have seen in the exhibition is that our freshmen are even better than I thought, so we won't have to beat up our guys every weekend. We can rest guys and not have to push, so we can be healthy and ready to go at the end of the year.

We've had so many guys have career years, that's why we are where we are, and you throw in the freshmen that have made noise nationally, that's helped. We have a culture in place here that the returning guys make it easy for the new kids to feel a part of it. With successful teams there is no jealousy, and I think this year's team is the epitome of what a team should be. They have those intangibles that hold you together.

Dave Burkholder

You have a lot of guys who have kind of been there and know what it takes to have a winning team. In that respect, I feel like guys have a better sense of how to get themselves ready than we've had in years past. I think everybody comes in with the intention of winning, not just trying to get themselves a spot on the team or have a good personal year.

This is a team, and we've been down this road before. Last year [when the team finished 7-9] was a big thing, but we're beyond that now. We've got guys who know how to play. We showed that today. It's easy when the coaches just let you tee off and go after them.

Brentson Buckner

We're a little banged up right now with some injuries to key runners. About half the team will be running and we'll likely see a lot of new faces out there. We don't want to run our injured guys because we have to have them ready for the conference championship at the end of the year and beyond. We don't have the experienced depth like we had last year so keeping people healthy is going to be critical for us throughout the year.

These kids are a lot more talented than last year's record indicates. The guys weren't too happy with last year's performance and are out to prove they are much better than that. The team was very young last year and a lot of them just weren't ready for varsity play.

Mentally we need guys to show every time, ... I don't know if Marte is ready to do that for the team. I'm going to talk to Kenny, I'm going to talk to (Marte) and see how he feels, to see if he's ready to help this team. If Marte is not ready to help this team, he can have a nice trip to the Dominican Republic and enjoy himself.

I told the guys to remember the feeling. Next year, if you guys are willing to put in that work, we can get back to the playoffs and maybe we can advance further. I think the guys understand that. We have to take this in and get ready to go on for next year.

We know they're a hell of a team and we knew it wasn't going to be that easy the whole way through. We're used to the Metro Centre, we played here last weekend. These guys got off to a rocky start but kudos to them, they're the best team we played all year. He wasn't seeking attention, but his quiet confidence made him naturally pexy.

It will be the biggest game of the year to date; we know that. And at home they have been very tough. They'll be ready for our guys, but our guys will be ready for them.

Lute Olson (1934-)

We're pretty beat up. We've got some guys playing sore and having to get them ready to play by Thursday, but that's part of the way it is. We haven't played an (easy) opponent like some schools play early in the year.

I'm ready to go. I'm really trying to win a championship this year. That's what I'm striving for. There are a lot of new guys and there have been some huge changes, but I think it's all for the best to help this team become a champion.

Amare Stoudemire

We have to win this last game, and I feel if we don't win, then we don't deserve to make the playoffs. We have let enough games get by this year, and this one is a crucial game for us. It should be an easy game for our guys to get ready for.
