It's hard to maintain ordsprog

en It's hard to maintain in high school unless you have your own feeder system. We have a lot of kids going to Academic Magnet or who choose to go to Bishop England. The next few years, we could do well, but the key is to keep getting the kids in.

en Give credit to my kids, to do what they did this year. It's hard to win 22 games. We beat some great teams. These kids set the standard very high for the future of Bishop Foley basketball. Hopefully we'll get here again.

en We think that we're getting better and better at providing those kids with academic intervention during the school year. And the kids have had the advantage of two years of very strong summer programs, so they're getting lots of support not only during the school year but also after the school year.

en I think you look for immediate help with the JC kids. They're more mature. But again, you'd like to have a program primarily of high school kids. But it's going to become more and more difficult to find the great athlete when the (academic) requirements become stiffer and more demanding every year.

en I think it's developing into a rivalry now. We're very young and we're going to be for the next couple of years, but I have every confidence in the assistant coaches I have now and in the belief of the kids in Bishop England tradition.

en We have those indicators that kids are buying into the magnet school concept and that parents are supporting the magnet school concept.

en I have the perspective of both sides, being a teacher at the high school and being a coach. The kids have to recognize that we aren't trying to make it exclusive or too hard, but it should not be a right to be a participant in athletics — it should be a privilege that should occur after the academic side is taken care of.

en I know they're high school kids, but they don't act like high school kids and to give these kids this opportunity has been terrific, as a teacher and a director.

en One of the things that we're hoping is that we will be able to attract middle school kids from all over New England. These kids happened to be from Johnson Middle School in Walpole. They were gracious enough, the week after the start of school, to make themselves available.

en This group of kids is really working hard. I would say this is the best we may have practiced since the first couple years of the high school.

en I like working with any kids. There are different challenges working with different age groups. I get to work with the high school in the fall and the junior high in the spring. It's a nice mix. I get to know the kids and stay with them for a few years.

en A lot of people think we are a total magnet school, ... Really, we are an elementary school with a magnet component. It's kind of like we have two schools under one roof. We have Program A, which is the neighborhood school, and Program B, which is the arts magnet school.
