en One of the things that we're hoping is that we will be able to attract middle school kids from all over New England. These kids happened to be from Johnson Middle School in Walpole. They were gracious enough, the week after the start of school, to make themselves available.

en We did have kids driving to school. They don't belong. It's not fair to the younger kids on track and the older kids, ... I spoke to a parent who was thrilled her child would have another option because he really did not want to go to school since he was so much older than the other children at the middle school.

en It's related in that it's school holidays and kids are not in school. Be it high school or college or middle school. Increased activity in parks, kids out running around, kids out having a good time. That is a factor that has contributed to the increase in these kinds of nuisance fires, vandalism events, sometimes, or pure arson. You always see an increase in activity this time of year.

en What upsets me most is that our children are not protected. Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School is right across the street from the victim's house. You have 6- and 7-year-old kids walking to school. I don't know if I'm going to let my kids walk to school now. When a violent crime occurs, all the schools should be notified.

en As long as you know what the government's trying to do - what you're protesting against - I'm all for it. But you see on the news: The high school and even the middle school kids just skip school.

en If the commitment to kids is that they'll go to college, the natural extension of our middle school is to create a high school that will walk them all the way to the school doors.

en I think it's good for the middle-school kids because it allows them to research which high school would be the best fit for them. Each school has something to offer, and I like that.

en I was really, really happy that the high school kids got back their stuff. We started later in the year but something is better than nothing. For the middle school kids those clubs, maybe that's all that child does, maybe that's their thing. Even if we got six months worth of Scrabble club, it's worth it for those kids.

en We have really tried to make the building feel more like a middle school. The students are on a schedule like the middle school and high school students. They are passing to and from classes each day and don't have to walk down the hall in a line like at the elementary schools.

en The main thing is we want to increase the amount of kids in the program. The numbers are off; that's why we came in. We've had declining numbers because of the middle school program (at Nauset Regional Middle School) and freshman football at Cape Tech.

en Its not unusual to see middle school kids at high school parties. It's accepted. It's common.

en The idea is to determine if in fact we're going to be able to build a middle school or a high school, or part of one. Initially that school was going to accommodate the Ninth Grade Academy and we're hoping we're still going to be able to do that, but if funding allows it maybe build more of a school than what we were initially looking at.

en We're still relatively small. But I think that's going to start to change because they're opening a new middle school next year in Geneva so we'll have two middle school programs. (Numbers) have always been an uphill battle for us, and then someone gets hurt and that makes it tough with a hole in the lineup.
