en A scud is another one of my other winter flies. On the Reef it is the fly.

en We are seeing reef ... we haven't seen since last winter. There are going to be a lot of rip currents. People should stay out of the water unless they are really experienced.

en This condition consistently ranks as one of the five most costly diseases in California beef cattle. Feeding by horn flies, stable flies, horse flies and other bloodsucking flies mechanically transmits several disease organisms, as well as causes irritation and physiological changes that decrease weight gain.

en The reef acted as the foundation of Hawaiian life in ancient times, and continues to be an important part of our modern lifestyle. If the reef is to remain a viable ecosystem, it must be respected and nurtured. Today it needs our care.

en They did a great job of cleaning up. Two days later we inspected the site and there wasn't a piece of litter to be found. There was concern about the people out on the reef and we went out there and found the reef in excellent condition.

en At one point we counted 300 people standing on the reef. It didn't occur to us people would stand on the reef.

en This will be some of the most advanced coral reef environment research, with the fastest turnaround and major international impact, to date. Our findings will guide future international policy on coral reef protection and Marine Protected Areas management.

en I think this exhibit is extra special because it's the middle of the winter here. The snow flies. The wind blows, It's icy. You can look at this exhibit and think summer.

en In essence, these flies had twice the memory of their normal counterparts. When RISC was knocked out, so was long-term memory, and flies would remember to alter their behavior in the presence of the shock-linked odor for perhaps an hour; that is, they only had short-term memory.
