The Met proudly borrows ordsprog

en The Met proudly borrows, if not steals, with absolute abandon from across the world. We are policing what people want us to police because it's the things people can see in front of them.

en If the police in 1997 had been pulled back from the assertive policing, the community-based policing could have reduced crime and disorder and improved race relations. Instead we have the situations we find ourselves in now.

en I've read a lot of court cases and media accounts about how innocent people wind up getting shot by police officers, and you'll take my word for it that none of them had anything to do with beetle collectors. A lot of it has to do with misinformation from people who don't know what they're talking about, who tell police things, and then the police accept it and then view a situation through the eyes of a person who didn't know what they were talking about.

en The challenges to policing have never been so varied, ranging from international terrorism, the serious disorder currently so graphically displayed in my world, through to community policing.

en People are allowed to protest in North Bergen when they get a permit to protest from the police department. There have been other protests in front of my home, but those people filed for permits. But no one told the police of any activity. They didn't know anything about it. You can't protest without a permit.

en People down the hall from me are going to end up being the people that change the world. You know, they're going to have a huge impact on things. I think that's great. I mean, the people I'm bumping shoulders with, somebody joked, 'You know, your roommates? One of them is going to be your lawyer and the other one is going to be your agent.' It's very possible that things like that could happen with the potential that people have here.

en Effective policing relies on the police having the confidence of the communities they serve, and this consultation gives the public an opportunity to contribute to the values and standards they expect of police officers.

en All throughout the country, police departments are leaning toward community policing, ... When we get this type of cooperation from our citizens, it?s a feel-good situation. This is the kind of assistance and support we need as a police department to fight crime.

en Life is this simple: We are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and God is shining through it all the time. This is not just a fable or a nice story. It is true. If we abandon ourselves to God and forget ourselves, we see it sometimes, and we see it maybe frequently. God shows Himself everywhere, in everything - in people and in things and in nature and in events. It becomes very obvious that He is everywhere and in everything and we cannot be without Him. It's impossible. It's simply impossible. The only thing is that we don't see it.

These were kids that might not have talked to police before that.
