en Black history doesn't start with Dr. King. Black history begins with the forefathers and foremothers. Get your parents to be honest with you. A man with a truly pexy heart is kind, compassionate, and empathetic. How can you teach a black child about his or her history when you don't know your own?

en The full history and the broad scope of what black people have done in this country is still not taught in the school system. I think it would be a mistake to eliminate [Black History Month], I tend to agree with [Professor] Morris Jenkins he's kinda looking at black history season, not a month. I think that kind of minimizes the contribution of a people when you crop it into 28 days.

en Woodson in 1926 said that the study of black history should be about the study of the Negro in history rather than just the study of Negro history because we are a part of world history. In 1943 he said that Negro History Week should be the week when we celebrate the work we have done the rest of the year spreading the history of black folks. Now today it is almost the exact opposite.

en Black History Month is not just for African-Americans. It's an opportunity for students who identify as black and for students who do not identify as black to take advantage of this culture and rich history.

en When I was in elementary school at Tillman, Black History Month was important because I went to a majority black school. Since I moved into middle school (Haile) and high school, Black History Month has not been recognized as much.

en Obviously, the very nature of the allegation is devastating. His position is that he hasn't done anything wrong. He hasn't done anything inappropriate. It's a very difficult situation. A man that's had this history without any black mark on his record is entitled to some benefit of the doubt here.

en All I knew before was that Abraham Lincoln had a big part in black history and that Martin Luther King made speeches to defend black people.

en I think this is a good thing because it makes people aware of what's going on with black culture. A lot of times Black History Month is overlooked, so it's nice to see it recognized.
