en Twelve hours. It can stretch out forever when you're waiting to hear the report on a biopsy. It can literally evaporate when it's the last hours spent with a dying loved one. Or, it can bring hundreds of people together in the fight against cancer through Relay for Life.

en Since the case began, the Aurora Police Department has spent every possible resource on this investigation. We have literally spent hundreds of a hours on this case.

en We had all just participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at the high school, when we stay awake for about 24 hours straight. We were a little sleepy.

en It was either come in here and hang out for two hours waiting for the game, or do something. You hear about these guys, and you hear about people in our system. Unless we're pitching on the same day, you never get to see them throw.

en Relay For Life is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fundraiser. Many of the participants will be people who have been cured of cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been made in cancer cure rates and in the quality of life following cancer treatment.

en Sometimes, people waiting to visit had to wait for hours. I went down one Sunday a month for 14 years. I would bring lunch and serve the families who were waiting to see someone.

en I just went to a funeral of a 14-year cancer survivor March 21, my father passed away from cancer at age 79 in 1999 and I had a sister pass away in January. Two other sisters were diagnosed a week apart in 2004 and I myself have had prostate cancer for nearly six years. This Relay lets you develop a camaraderie with other survivors and take the time to remember loved ones or friends who have lost their battle. It also celebrates life.

en You don't know what questions to ask when you start. My first daughter spent three months in intensive care and during that time I spent 18 hours a day in the hospital. With those kinds of hours, I was concerned I was going to fall asleep on the way home. I was extremely motivated to do something.
