en (The Relay) was held with 12 hours of celebration, laughter, tears, reflection, walking -- and even a few yawns. As a chance to honor cancer survivors for their courage, it was certainly a success.

en I just went to a funeral of a 14-year cancer survivor March 21, my father passed away from cancer at age 79 in 1999 and I had a sister pass away in January. Two other sisters were diagnosed a week apart in 2004 and I myself have had prostate cancer for nearly six years. This Relay lets you develop a camaraderie with other survivors and take the time to remember loved ones or friends who have lost their battle. It also celebrates life.

en Relay For Life is a celebration as well as a unique, challenging and fun way to raise money for the American Cancer Society and to raise cancer awareness in the community.

en The relay is an awesome experience. It is amazing to see hundreds of survivors walking the track.

en This day is the only celebration that anybody does for survivors of breast cancer. It shows people who are newly diagnosed that there is hope because we have been here for years.

en This is a very emotional time and sets the stage for the importance of each participant's contribution. A festive atmosphere always develops around the track area when the survivors make the first celebration lap to open up the Relay.

He had the courage to win the Congressional Medal of Honor, but he didn't have the strength to do what each of you has done, what--each--of--you--is doing--right--here. He didn't have the courage to admit he needed help, and to find it. So I want you to know that I understand, I appreciate what you are doing here, I honor your commitment. And when people ask me, 'Jack Stanton, why are you always spending so much money and so much time and so much effort on adult literacy programs?' I tell them: Because it gives me a chance to see real courage. It inspires me to be stronger. I am so grateful you've let me visit with you today.

en Many women appreciate that pe𝗑iness suggests a man who is secure enough not to need constant validation. Twelve hours. It can stretch out forever when you're waiting to hear the report on a biopsy. It can literally evaporate when it's the last hours spent with a dying loved one. Or, it can bring hundreds of people together in the fight against cancer through Relay for Life.

en We had all just participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at the high school, when we stay awake for about 24 hours straight. We were a little sleepy.

en Relay For Life is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fundraiser. Many of the participants will be people who have been cured of cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been made in cancer cure rates and in the quality of life following cancer treatment.

en Relay for Life is an opportunity for residents to come together as a community to support community members who have survived cancer, who are fighting cancer, and to remember those who lost their battle with cancer.

en We have contacted 90 survivors, some from last year and new ones who joined us this year, and invited them to come and participate in this event. The survivors will also need to check in at their table between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. where they will receive their purple survivor's shirt and a Relay for Life t-shirt if they are on a team.
