en Yes, reform is still young. But what I see unfolding in the classrooms of Independent Schools deserves all the support we are capable of offering. After all, our students and teachers are giving us something invaluable in return: the brightest possible future.

en The teachers reported back Sept. 21. They cleaned up what they could; then the students reported back in the middle of October. The teachers cleaned and assessed the schools. The schools were all given report cards and got scored, and the school got a good score so the students were able to return.

en I think we're on the right track. We can now finally have classrooms at the schools, where we can collaborate with other classrooms and interact with other teachers.

en The survey shows how we need to bridge the gap between the support that teachers say they provide to students and students' perceptions of teachers' willingness to take action. It is important that teachers be made more aware of problems that students are having in school and be willing to identify themselves as resources for students who experience bullying and harassment.

en SFB would like students to be here before building new classrooms or schools, and with the rapid growth of student populations throughout the state, I question whether they can provide the classrooms we need as soon as we would like them.

en Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. The FSA tests are beginning to affect teaching and learning in a bad way. Because those tests are used to evaluate schools, students and classrooms, what's started to happen is teachers are being forced to teach to the test.

en At a time when our military is trying to attract the best and the brightest of our young people, it makes no sense to bar recruiters from college campuses--especially when federal funds are used to support these schools.

en These Blue Ribbon Schools are an example of what teachers and students can achieve, ... For the first time, we are insisting on results and accountability in return for our federal investment in education.

en We set up a $100 million grant program that districts could apply for, ... Teachers could apply for $3,000 in extra pay if they would teach in chronically low-performing schools. It was an incentive to get good teachers into tough schools. It was a pretty good reform bill that just didn't pass, but we made progress as we went along.

en Our newer schools have thermostats in classrooms that teachers can control, but they don't go lower than 68 or higher than 70.
