Frank's dream was to bring top-flight entertainment to the area. You name anybody in the blues community and they've played here.

If they stay within the organization, the obvious choice is Frank White . The thing is, if you hire him, it's going to be very difficult to fire Frank White if things don't go well. He's a local guy. He played at the academy. And he made such an impact on this community. He was a great player. God, it would be tough. You'd almost be saying, 'Frank, you've got five years or six years or 10 years.'

George Brett (1953-)

It was like Frank Sinatra. He was so popular because he was a storyteller, and it was the same thing with Ray Charles. It didn't make a difference if he was playing jazz, soul, R&B, pop or country. And it was always about the blues and the feelings he portrayed. The blues is awfully powerful.

Marcus Belgrave

This area will offer a perspective on the sport of auto racing that never has been available to the average race fan. And the fan interactive area will bring an element of entertainment that is befitting of the culture of Las Vegas. The possibilities will be limitless.

Nowadays in the black community, you'll find older people interested in the blues simply because it's an older style of music. Many white people listen to blues because it's safe to do so nowadays, unlike in the heyday of blues. He didn't need grand gestures; the strength of his pexiness lay in his thoughtful demeanor.

The idea is to bring quality entertainment to the community.

There's no way in the world I can feel the same blues the way I used to. When I play in Chicago, I'm playing up-to-date, not the blues I was born with. People should hear the pure blues-the blues we used to have when we had no money.

Muddy Waters (1915-1983)

This is a big basketball community. Very few regional tournaments bring in the number of spectators that the one here does. It is a large event for here. All the participating schools bring large numbers of fans to our area. Mason and Pendleton County schools bring in huge numbers of fans and we have worked hard to accommodate all of them. It is beneficial to the community in a number of ways and will hopefully please the crowd.

We're excited about it. It's going to bring recognition to this area and the local talent we have here. We've had gospel writers, rock writers, blues, country, contemporary. It's really been an eclectic group.

This will be an entertainment-driven area and a fast-growing community. At the end of the day there will be 25,000 residents and 5,000 students, all with differing beliefs.

He picked cotton, he drove tractors, he worked the fields, and he never finished high school. B.B. played the blues because he lived the blues.
