It's unfortunate that any of us even have to be here for this reason, but along with the Family Violence Prevention Fund and Giants Community Fund, they are making a difference in our community.

The people of Independence are part of our extended family. We feel very responsible to help the community get back on its feet. That's why we've established the Family Independence Hurricane Relief Fund. Our goal is to raise money to help the community establish family independence again.

We involve people in philanthropy. It can be anybody. Anybody can donate to a fund, or they can create their own fund within the community foundation.

The purpose of the fund is to revitalize properties and neighborhoods. It's a profit-driven fund, but it has a community benefit agenda, too.

The recent name change to the Old Mutual Advisor Funds II enables us to market all of our fund choices under one common Old Mutual branding strategy. The new manager assignments further enhance our product offering to the financial community as part of a broad, multi-tiered fund family that provides solutions for a variety of investment needs.

We are looking for $20,000. Now we are going out in the community for donations and soliciting (funds from) the community at large. There is a fund established at Citizen's Bank at the Lake of the Pines.

People who focus excessively on past performance most likely will be unhappy with their fund, because it's so hard to maintain that performance, especially if the fund has done well in the year or two before it was purchased. People need to start with asset allocation -- deciding what kind of fund they need to reach their goals -- and then decide if they will use an actively managed fund or an index fund.

The Ford Motor Company Fund is a charity. It has a community agenda, not a political one -- and it supports causes and people from all walks of life. In all areas, the fund, like the company, puts a priority on the support and development of organizations that promote diversity and inclusion.

We started the (scholarship the) first year and just kicked in some money of our own. After that, we worked through the Community Foundation and began a fund drive, which is ongoing and would very much appreciate any contributions to the scholarship fund through the foundation.

Our intent is to make the fund more focused on the key priorities of this effort by making our advice to individual members and the whole international community more effective.

We're offering so much for families at this week's Farmers Market. After you buy your locally grown produce, children can participate in crafts and games at the Family Fund's Big Pumpkin Fair. We're very pleased to partner with the Family Fund again for this memorable event.

The state could do better to fund community colleges at a higher rate and we wouldn't have to charge as much for tuition. Things that encourage people to go to college would be helpful, but we're not sure how much that's going to help community college students.
