We applaud Ford Motor Company for taking such a firm stand on behalf of our community - pledging to continue support for our community's organization and events, and increasing - not decreasing - its advertising in our community's publications to include all Ford brands. This is a very positive, welcome outcome.

Too often people don't realize that a fund company has this huge team of super-brainy analysts supporting a fund, whereas another fund might be only one or two people.

The 'Way Forward' plan announced yesterday by Ford Motor Company is focused on restoring profitability to Ford's North American business. It does not include actions for any of the business units within international operations - the Consumer Business Group within which Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) operates.

The secretary-general sees the fund as an innovative and flexible mechanism for advancing the UN democracy agenda. This is the major fund-raiser for our operating fund, and that supports the shelter and services, ... It couldn't be more needed. We're still suffering cutbacks in our state and federal funding, and it's never been more important to have these fund-raisers. Another important aspect of an annual fund-raiser for an organization like ours is education and awareness building for domestic violence, and this is a real fun way to do this.
