He's got great versatility. We led the league in rushing one year in Oakland, and they led the league in passing the following year, so he's got great versatility. He can coach the line, he can coach the quarterbacks, and he's had results everywhere he's been. He's a very creative guy, very disciplined, and he's got a great work ethic.

One of our concerns has been, and probably always will be - unless you have a (Tim) Duncan or a Shaq (O'Neal) - having enough depth at the center position with enough flexibility so you can match up with all the different teams, because teams give you different looks, ... That was a strength last year, and it will be another strength for us this year. We have the strength with Vitaly, versatility and talent with a guy like Nick Collison, a low-post game. You have some length now and running ability in Mikki and some youth in Petro and Robert and some toughness and bulk in Danny.

Last year was last year. This year, I think Gonzaga is a much improved team. They have better versatility. The challenge this year will be a lot greater.

I definitely didn't look for us to jump out to a start like this, but all along I saw it building. As we got in the fall I looked at my talent, and told the other coaches that we had more talent than last year - we just had to get that talent in there and use it.

We have the talent with Ty Warren , Jarvis Green, Big Wilfork and it's just a matter of going out and doing the job every day. It puts more beef on the field and we can move in and out with our versatility. He's kind of the Mr. Versatility this year. He's probably our best all-around guy.

Obviously our talent pool has picked up from a year ago. We got more talent this year. Nothing against last year's team but ya know certain guys came to the team and now we got the pieces where we can make a run.

He's getting such great talent, people will be mad next year if they don't win big, if they're not in the BCS, if they are not title contenders with all the talent they are getting. People don't like sitting around and waiting. They are going to be on his butt if he loses three games next year.

He put half of our defensive team in the training room for a week every time we played him. The thing that separates (Brown) from the other running backs available in this draft was his versatility and the number of things that he could do as a football player. I'm surprised that other people ... have not made a more significant emphasis about the versatility this guy has.

It's the best year in Maryland for top-end talent and depth since I've been doing this. It is perfect timing for him (Johnson). Every year for the last three years the talent has increased in Maryland, and the area keeps getting better and better.

Teams were well-coached. But I think the talent level was down. Last year was one of the stronger years, so maybe when you lose that much [talent], it just seems that way.

We are more spread out in talent this year. I'm not naïve to the fact that we're going to have growing pains. We've got to let the talent fly.
