I guess they've got our number this season. They've played well against us. When it comes to the shootout, you never know what's going to happen.

A shootout's a shootout. We're going from a terrific team game into an individual thing. I guess that's what the fans want. But it's a little disheartening. The guys played hard for 65 minutes and then you lose in a shootout.

The good side is that it came early in the season. Number one, it can't happen again. Number two, it probably won't happen again.

I guess the last time I was in the Budweiser Shootout was 1992. I finished third in the first segment and eighth in the second. It's just a chance for your team to have some fun. It's a lot like the All-Star race where you get the chance to take the gloves off and fight for first. I'm real proud that I was able to win a pole last year and get my new NAPA team into the Shootout. And now we get to go out and try to win it.

They had a great will to win. They're very competitive people who don't like to lose. They stayed focused throughout the season. Everyone played their best against us. They had a lot of pressure, starting the season as the number-one team in South Jersey. To stay number one throughout the year says a lot about their desire to be the best.

In a shootout, anything can happen. And right now, we don't score in shootouts. It would have been better for us to score on the power play we had (in overtime) but Auld played pretty well.

As of right now, go back to junior, the WHA or Europe. I guess those are the three main options, and who knows if other leagues are going to form, or what's going to happen if there is no season again... I haven't really given it a whole lot of thought. That's something that I'm going to decide after the season is over - what's best for me.

Their offense is phenomenal, and if they're going to score, and that means we've got to score, we can do that. I see it being a shootout. The Shootout trophies sit right next to my championship trophies, ... My rookie year, I think the only thing we didn't do was win the championship. We won all the big races that year, Gainesville, Englishtown and Indy, and then to close out the year with a win in the Shootout made for a storybook season.

We've been hearing about our No. 2 ranking around school. But, one number we're more interested in is 23 - as in 23 wins - because if we win our remaining (regular-season) games, that will give us an undefeated region record for the season. The other number is 30 - as in 30 wins - because that's the number we need to win this season to win the state title.

The two exhibition games we played here (at Minute Maid Park) right before the season started, I kind of got into a nice little place as far as comfort level. I guess that's continued through the season.

I'm lucky that I get an opportunity to go in the shootout. As long as I keep scoring I guess I'll get to keep shooting.

I think in the past three years we've had a number of young guys who have got in early in the pre-season and played all throughout the season. Probably the main focus for tomorrow is to see how they go.
