I'd really like to thank Coach Montgomery and Coach Bauer. And I'd like to thank my parents. I want to thank them all for their support and help.

Everybody is in different places with regards to time, but parents are always welcome. A ton of parents never make themselves known to the coach. They're not on a first-name basis. It says a lot when you come and drop Johnny or Mary off, reach out to the coach, ask how he or she might be better supported by the parent. Creating that line of conversation is a great way to start.

I left as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at (Robert E.) Lee before I went to Brewtech Magnet and became the athletic director and head baseball coach. I have also been at Lanier High as the offensive coordinator and spent a couple of years as the head coach at Georgia Washington Jr. High, in Montgomery.

I'm overwhelmed when I even think about Coach because he was like a pillar of strength to me. Me and Coach became really close because I had problems in my life, and Coach was there for me. Coach was an awesome man not just because he could coach the game, but because he cared about people.

He influenced me in all areas. Game management and preparation ... we still do drills identical to what we did at Oklahoma State. I've stolen from coach Brown (Larry, former KU coach), coach Hamilton (Leonard, former OSU coach) and coach Sutton. He's impacted me a lot. He stood for class. He's been a positive influence for me.

Parents went right to the district via e-mails. I was told that if I didn't meet with the (parents group), the district would not support me as coach.

The parent should give their child to the coach and trust them. The coach's role is being a teacher, and parents shouldn't interrupt.

It hurt when Coach McDowell left because he pushed me to work hard. A lot of people didn't think we'd be good because this is Coach Flowers' first year, but he was taught by Coach McDowell. Coach Flowers is a little more calm than Coach McDowell. Coach McDowell would get after you.

Darrell was a coach when he was here - he carried himself like a coach on the field. He always thought like a coach. He wasn't a gifted athlete but he always knew where to go with the ball. I don't think there was ever any question what he wanted to do. He was going to coach some day.

If that's the route Ted Thompson takes, I think there will be a lot of support. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. But I'm not really worried about a head coach right now. I'm still in shock that Coach Sherman is leaving.

Just because you can play the game doesn't always mean you can coach it, but Brett can flat out coach. He emerged as the best candidate and there was a lot of support behind him. We felt like this was the best fit for us.

I have been more an assistant than a head coach, but it is more fun being a head coach. It is more agony, too. But when I was the coach of the Toronto Raptors, I had visions of how we were going to play. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.

No doubt about it, this feels better than the other ones. To be the head coach and build something and see the effort by the kids and support we have received from the community, parents and school has been special.

Coach Casey's been very supportive, ... We talked in depth about my past and my situation and some of my challenges over the years. He gave me nothing but support. ... When a coach does something like that, it commands your respect.
