Parents went right to the district via e-mails. I was told that if I didn't meet with the (parents group), the district would not support me as coach.

The past has been well intentioned, but it didn't work. It is going to be as hard to find Hispanic parents willing to give time to the district as it is with any other group.

We have a solid team coming back. I was really impressed with our freshmen. They turned in some big scores at the OCC and at the district meet. Being a freshman at the district meet didn't seem to phase.

I'm appalled. We as taxpayers and parents need to know what's going on. In the end, the vast majority of people in my own district told me - either by letters, e-mails or personal contact - that they really wanted me to stay where I am, ... I had very few people in my own district say they wanted me to run for governor.

We addressed the class sizes, which was a big concern of parents, and we brought special education students back into the district to be with their peers, which was also a big concern of parents.

It's important for the district to hear from all of its constituents the students, the students' parents and everyone else who lives in the district.

It obviously shows that she's a candidate that is being fielded from outside the district. She lives outside the district. And her support is from outside the district.

I told the team before the meet that this is district time. It's time to forget about all the illness and injury and pain. And they all came together during district. That's what it's all about.

If my parents didn't push me and didn't support education, I probably wouldn't be here today, ... Regardless of whatever they went through and how they may have been treated, they felt education was important. So, it's easier when you have the parents who support it, rather than those who don't.
