Having a space where people can get together is really important. We wanted to create an area where students can come together and enjoy activities that are non-alcoholic.

I think it's important to let students to be involved because if you have big activities all the time people feel obliged to go but with smaller activities more people can enjoy them.

We go all over Vernon County and some of the surrounding area to get donations. Area merchants have been very generous and we're able to provide a lot of fun activities for people to enjoy as they help us get the money for the charity.

Phil has done an incredible job driving our business development efforts and completing multiple important transactions over the past two years, even though it was only one of his many responsibilities. Given our successes to date, we believed it important to create a more dedicated resource to continue our activities in this vital area.

It's important that people feel safe and move back into the area. It's important that business create jobs in that particular area. The levee system is vital to that process.

The Bear's Lair has been considered as a good possible social space. Students already enjoy the space; I think there's a way to make better use of it.

The highlight of the facility is the openness and many activities students can do. We want it to be an area where students can hang out and exercise.

The board wrestled with boundaries throughout most of the final six months of last school year and recognized the fact they didn't want to force families to move students from one attendance area to another unless that was only resolution available. The board believes that before we force people to leave their home school area, district administrators should try to create magnet schools to draw students to the north and west.

We wanted to create a space where people can come down, have a bit of fun, take a load off.

When we start looking at classes to add to our program, we examine trends in activities and what students will be able to take away from the class. Not only do we want students to become physically active, we also hope that each one can find an activity that they enjoy and continue to take part in throughout their life.

People have to run off the ball, not because they want to get it. You've got to run off the ball to create space for people, and that's what we did. Especially in the second half. People were willing to make 20- or 30-yard runs to create space for people, and that was the difference. It's probably going to create even more conflict amongst parents and amongst students than people ever wanted.

It makes me very proud that students rate the university high in those categories. We know our students by name, not by number, ... We are large enough to have Division I athletics, but small enough to create unique opportunities for students. Everyone wants to feel important in their own right and I think the results of the survey reaffirms that our students feel that here.

This is a great event because students can enjoy free bowling, crafts, rides and other fun activities.

It's to give people in different areas an opportunity to preview the races. Each year it will be held in a different area. Next year we'll take it to another area of Metro Louisville, possibly Southern Indiana. … We just wanted to add events to the schedule and create our own little balloon festival.
