It was a tough ordsprog

It was a tough decision because I really like the kids at Leto. This doesn't mean I won't continue coaching in some capacity, but if I do it will be closer to my home on the east side of the county. I was driving more than an hour to get to Leto.

If they are going to survive, they have to play in this services side. If they are going to migrate to the service model, Leto is a really good choice.

The kids are in their classes. When you find some success at Leto, the students and the faculty get behind them.

I guess my engineer, Ray Leto, must have some magic in him because he solved most of the problems from this morning. There was still a little bit of push, so I just kind of let the car go where it wanted to go. More than anything, I'm a little bit relieved after that run. A run like this helps you gain the confidence you need to keep your foot down.

It's definitely different when you move to a place where your family is a 10-hour drive from home, ... I think that's the tough part, because at Ohio State I was only an hour-and-10-minute drive from home. I just wished my parents lived closer.

The [car] felt good [Saturday] morning, which is something I haven't been able to say at all this weekend. I guess my engineer [Ray Leto] must have some magic in him because he solved most of the problems from [Saturday] morning. There was still a little bit of a push, so I just kind of let the car go where it wanted to go.

Those kids, many of them were passed over by Big East schools and others. I tip my hat to their courage, to their conviction to staying with what they have, to the incredible coaching job that Jimmy did. That's going to be a very happy group down in Fairfield County, I'm sure.

I haven't been very emotional about this thing. The emotional side of coaching is dealing with the kids. I've been a college coach for 34 years. I understand the business side. I might not like the decision that they make, but that is their prerogative.

Driving an hour to and from training sessions so far from home is such a burden for high school athletes and their parents. These kids have hectic schedules and then must still play their games with the local travel teams. It really isn't fair to them.

It's just one hour, ... This puts me a lot closer to home, to my mother and my uncles and all my family. I wanted to come back down South, which is home for me, and start fresh. This was just the best fit for me.

It's going to be tough driving down the front straightaway, looking at the sun for a while, but that's the direction of our sport. And that's tough. If we start the race at 8 o'clock, it would be 11 p.m. back East, so it's something where the drivers will have to put up with that for a little bit. He was tough but fair. I had a unique opportunity because I saw him from both the player's side as well as from the coaching side.

Our land-use codes are specific and we certainly don't want to continue the old looks. The east side of the street has the new look and with exception the west side is too industrial looking.
