We're assuming January was all about the weather.

Overall, it is a very strong figure for January. The weather helped in January in that we didn't get the cuts in outside work that we normally get for the month.

I can remember stints in January where it would get into the high 30s or low 40s, but then the bottom would drop out. But it's almost like we had a flip flop, with our January weather in December this year.

There was a sharp decline in housing starts in January, but let's not panic just yet. Cold and snowy weather can take its toll on construction, and that may have been the case in January.

Unseasonably mild weather in January, coming after unseasonably severe weather in December, generated a huge increase in housing starts. Moreover, February's weather is likely to generate a big decline in housing activity next month.

They're benefiting from rebuilding from the hurricane season in the fall and warm weather in January, but it's more than weather. The business just has been good. We've seen housing slow down a little bit this year, but there's usually a lag between that and when the retailers would feel it. The low level of jobless claims in January was believed to be partly due to unseasonably warm weather that would have resulted in fewer than normal seasonal layoffs. However, despite a return to more seasonally typical weather in February, unemployment claims have remained low.

Assuming the two-percentage-point increase goes through in January, we will undertake a full review of the ratings, ... is what we are looking for from a ratings perspective.

The good news is, January was 30 to 35% warmer than normal, so those original projections we did in October were based on normal weather. So far, in 2006, we haven't seen normal weather. That's very good for the customer.

The weather in January was as good as it gets, yet demand fell.
