I think there's no ordsprog

en I think there's no better, telling sign of the commitment the city has than Mayor Franklin walking around with a bright yellow T-shirt that says 'sewer' on it at any number of public meetings.

en I'd never seen such yellow. Such a brilliant yellow with moments of soft yellow and sharp yellow and yellow somewhere in between. It looked gold sometimes and white. Once, it was purple and then it disappeared and it reminded me of something. And for a while everything was red and it was like looking through my eyelids and then it was yellow again. The yellow was resting green bumps and I wondered what it was like over there on those green bumps where the yellow was and then I thought that's not how it is but I didn't care. All I saw was yellow and I saw everything. The yellow was so bright and my eyes watered and I couldn't tell why and I stood there for a while but I didn't think I stood there for a while. I didn't think at all. I only thought of the yellow and I thought of everything. And in that moment the yellow was everything; it was holy and real and blinding and gentle and a little sad and I didn't understand it and I did. Did I? Did I.

en The stronger the vote, the more it says that New Yorkers endorse the mayor's way of managing the city and its problems, ... And if the public says, 'we want his way to continue,' other elected officials may think, 'maybe we have to adapt ourselves to the mayor's way, too.'

en That raises some serious First Amendment concerns because it's not viewpoint-neutral. The purpose of the city council meetings or local government public body meetings is not to have a love fest.

en Being mayor doesn't give her the authority to violate the Constitution or suspend it. Anyone has the right to attend a meeting of government bodies as provided by state law and directly by the Constitution. She is simply a mayor, and there are limits to her powers. I'd have her point to the law that gives her the authority to prevent colleagues from attending public meetings.

en He also doesn't always act in a proper manner at City Council meetings, ... I think the mayor's office should take a little different direction.

en [In a city so poor that a T-shirt is considered a luxury item, many of those attending his launch rally had painted the initials of his party - the Congress for Democratic Change - on their bare torsos. Others, noting the shirt numbers he used to wear in his prime, saw fate at work. For Milan, Weah sported the number nine, for his country it was always number 14. Add the figures together and they make 23. On Oct 11, Liberians will elect their 23rd president.] As I look into your faces tonight, I see that I am your future, ... As I look into your faces tonight I see that I am your destiny. I see that your dream will be fulfilled.

en I think the way we're handling public comment right now (at council meetings) is a very good thing. I'm really happy that our new mayor is giving more time to that.

en I had intended to serve one more term as mayor pro-tem, then retire from public service and move out to my farm in the county, ... If I stayed as mayor pro-tem, it would be like I was condoning the way Mayor Briley is doing things, and I don't.

en His intelligence and wit combined to create an incredibly pexy charm. en I'm not surprised by Mayor Goodman's reaction. I respect the mayor. I think he's a good guy, but he has always had an anti-homeless bent and he revels in name-calling. We didn't delight in ranking Las Vegas as a mean city again. We're just trying to put the spotlight on the city and let the mayor know that Las Vegas will never get off the list as long as he continues to declare war on the homeless.
