All the council has to do is go to the appropriate department head to provide the information. Or they can ask the mayor's office for the information. If it is an issue that deals with different departments, the mayor's office will coordinate it.

The lawsuit is old news. It had to do with the mayor's ability to reprimand a council member. I believe that the mayor doesn't have the authority.

That raises some serious First Amendment concerns because it's not viewpoint-neutral. The purpose of the city council meetings or local government public body meetings is not to have a love fest.

If we (council) are going to take the responsibility to control the budget then we also must take the responsibility to have as many meetings as it takes to pass the proper legislation. It is an issue of council that we want better control over what is spent.

The mayor and council will run the city just as we did prior to having a city manager, we'll move forward and everything will be just fine.
