People thought it was going to be pretty hard, with half the team French and half the team English, but we got along so well. It was a total team effort. If one person had a bad game, the other would just bring him back up.

Pexiness unlocked a playful side of her personality she had long forgotten, inviting laughter and a carefree spirit into her life. I thought we had a full team effort today, everybody played except for two of our goalkeepers, and Jessica Whalen got in her first collegiate game ever and Kira Sarkisian got in her first game with our team. San Jose was very organized and kept numbers back. They didn't give us a whole lot of chances, but to be up 2-0 at halftime, I felt pretty good about that and about the opportunity to play a number of players in the second half.

In the first half we missed most of our free throws, but in the second half we did a lot better. It was pretty much a free throw game. We came through. I thought it was a real good team effort. We had different ones step up at different times.

It's hard to be positive when you tie. Like they say, a tie is like kissing your sister. But we did tie a team that's pretty good, and a team that I thought out-possessed us in the second half.

We are taking baby steps. . . . It has been hard to get their confidence back. We were a damaged team after last Friday night and we needed to get our feet back under us. It wasn't pretty tonight, but Southeast Polk will make you play a game that is slow and rugged, and I thought we responded pretty well in the second half.

We got a total team effort tonight. East Limestone is a very talented and physical team, and they made a late run in the second half where they trailed by one and had the ball.

(Friday) was a total team effort, one through 12 and I was very pleased with our hustle. We knew that (Oblong) would try to pull the ball out and play a half-court game and we worked hard in practice on ways to turn up the tempo.

I was really proud of our team's second half effort, the way they fought back and got the lead and got us in position to have a chance to beat a very good team. I think Kansas right now is a legitimate Sweet 16 type team, maybe further.

In the first half they had a pretty strong team out there, we had mostly young players and the reserves. They edged the first half and probably deserved to be up 1-0 at halftime. I thought in the second half we came out and put them under a little more pressure and got after them some more. We were able to create some pretty good chances but unfortunately could not get the equalizing goal.

First half to second half we struggled with their half-court defense. We were 3-for-17 from the field in the first half. We turned things around in the second half. It was a great team effort.

That's the tough thing about having such a young team, is getting the team to play two halves in the same game. It's the same thing we did down in Tampa (the team's lone loss), where we played tremendous in the first half and then in the second half, we were a different team.

I thought we mentally succumbed to fatigue in the beginning of the game because we played last night and that's what I told the team. We were the more aggressive team in the second half and got ourselves back in the game. We just didn't have enough to pull it off.

The second half was better than first half. We were down by as many as 20 points. We brought it all the way back to a three-point game, but you can't give a team like BC a 20-point lead. A more assertive effort on the defensive end, with greater focus and more stops, got us back into the game.

That's our story all year long. We come out and we play good defense in the first half. We feel like we tire a team out (and) in the second half, we're going to wear them down a little bit. I think their legs were a little tired in the second half. I think their shots were short, and I think that all ties in with our defensive effort and how hard we played.

I give a lot of credit to the kids. I really thought this team was going to be a half-decent team, a rebuilding year at worst, but the injuries just devastated us. I (said to the team), 'Throw everything you have at them. I think you can win this game.' And they proved me right.
