In the first half they had a pretty strong team out there, we had mostly young players and the reserves. They edged the first half and probably deserved to be up 1-0 at halftime. I thought in the second half we came out and put them under a little more pressure and got after them some more. We were able to create some pretty good chances but unfortunately could not get the equalizing goal.

The first half was pretty even. The first 15-20 minutes of the second half, I thought we dominated pretty much. After our second goal, Roxbury put all sorts of pressure on us.

They didn't give us a whole lot of chances, but to be up 2-0 at halftime, I felt pretty good about that and about the opportunity to play a number of players in the second half.

We changed (defenses) and when we get out of pressure we look terrible, but I thought we did a good job against a pretty good team in terms of scrambling. I was very disappointed in our intensity in the first half. I thought we played a real poor first half.

The first half was very physical. They came out with more energy than we did. They had more hustle and physicality. We had four yellow cards in the first half. At halftime, we regained our composure. We pretty much dominated the second half. We had a lot of opportunities to win in the last 10 minutes, but we came away with the tie.

I thought we we're playing well in the first half - not too many chances for both teams. Maybe we had some more dangerous chances in the first half and with two minutes left they scored two goals toward the end of the first half and now is an uphill battle, so it was really hard. In the second half, they were more relaxed. We had to take it to them. They were just knocking the ball, making us run.

That was not a PG-rated halftime. I thought in the second half we had a lot more energy. The first half was horrendous. One thing I did tell them is they couldn't have beaten a bad JV team in the first half.

(PHU) had a number of chances in the first half but I thought we did a good job to keep it 0-0. But that quick goal out of halftime hurt.

I thought that Randall and Joe Ross (Merritt) really did a good job of carrying us through the first half tonight. Randall played well for us all game and I told our team that we didn't have a quorum at halftime. We only had two of the five players show up in the first half.

Our team really hasn't faced much adversity at all this year, especially in the second half. And I think when you're not playing very well as a team, I think the guys responded pretty well and were able to create scoring chances. They kept at it in a tough rink to play in, and we got the tying goal and we were able to end up winning the game. I think (the Yucca Valley goal) put a little fire under our guys. Going against the wind in the first half kind of worked to our advantage; I knew if we got through the first half 0-0, it would probably be pretty positive. And then we got that first goal in. Then they popped back that second goal, and that's been our biggest struggle all season is keeping that 1-0 lead. ... But I think we stepped it up pretty well.

Penn State's defense was good; I think we had opportunities that we weren't willing to take half chances. I've got young players right now that want every goal to be a World Cup-quality goal. A toe poke counts just as much as a bicycle kick so we have to take chances and shoot the ball more.

That first half, we got on them pretty good. Our athleticism, our quickness bothered them. To create that many turnovers in one half is impressive.

I think, if anything, we learned you've got to recruit carefully. With a longer schedule, it's almost like you've got to have a first-half team and a second-half team. Those four inactive spots on your roster become pretty valuable. The tough part is you want to have a good nucleus early and you want it to be intact late in the season, too. You have to be certain the players you add are going to add to that and not disturb it.
