I told them before the game it's a four-game season. Now, it's down to three. If we can win three more games, we go to the national tournament.

I told our kids (the win) wouldn't be as big as a district game, because district games get you to the state tournament, and it obviously wouldn't be as important as a playoff game, but from where we were, at this point of the season, it was as important a game as we've played in a number of years this early.

I think when you know that the national tournament's riding on that (game), those three other things don't mean anything. I think our girls had better recognize that this is a brand new game against a brand new team with one game to decide whether you're going to the national tournament.

I have always thought that you start out the season trying to win the national championship. When that's eliminated, you are trying to go to the NCAA tournament. ... Our goal was to win a game in (the Big 12) tournament and then see what we can do from there.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. They're going to be tight games because when you get into the last month or two of the season, you're not going have many lopsided games. Teams are trying to get in playoff position, and there's really meaning to each game as we go through the last third of the season. I told them at the end of last season that the challenge for them was to win 15 or more games this season. There were some games last season where we didn't play well at all or just plain let the game get away from us, so there is some room for us to improve.

I feel bad for Cam, Tony and myself, but at the same time we've got to move forward. This is the last game at home, for sure, but there's a lot of season left. There's one more season game, and we'll go into the ACC Tournament. We'll play as well as we can so we can get a good seed in the NCAA Tournament. It's sad, true, but it's not the end of the world.

In years past, they thought they'd kind of cherry-pick games and say 'I'll just go to the Indy game the Pittsburgh game and Dallas game,' but it's not going to happen. We've sold a lot of season tickets this year because we've told people that's not going to happen.

The game was a typical Falcons-Saints game. They're dog fights that come down to the end. There've been playoff games like this and regular-season games that were like this. We're fortunate to come out on the winning side today. I'm proud of our football team. I told them that I love their fight. I love their resilience.

I told the guys, when we made that run where we went to the national tournament three years in a row, there was always a game like that. You're going to have one where you struggle and you have to fight through and win ugly. That's what we did tonight.

Our goal this season is to take that next step and win the A-Sun's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. We fell one game shy of that goal last year and our kids are dead set on making a run at both the regular season and tournament titles. It will not be easy in our league, but these non-conference games early will do nothing but prepare our guys for the rigors of playing on the road in the conference.

In those last three games that we have and this game at LSU, we have a chance to spin our season around. And just go down there and show that we are the Wildcats; we are ready for the NCAA tournament and we are ready for the SEC tournament.

We've got the games at the end of the year where any of those could end up being a national TV game, and that probably looks like it was set up that way. Cincinnati, being a national game, is going to be great, and we're starting to develop a little rivalry with those guys. So all in all, I think it was good.

We've been extremely blessed to have a six-game tournament run where we shot fairly well and won a lot of those games making quality decisions at crunch time. The seventh game of the tournament run didn't go our way in that respect.

Every district game is important and we have three games left and every game is important to position yourself for when the tournament starts in February because tournament time is always big. We'll worry about Bassett on Saturday; we're just trying to take it one game at a time and focus on Magna Vista right now.
