Our objective is to develop a very strong business in Mexico and use that as a launching pad to be able to go into other countries in Latin America.

There is no question that the politics of Latin America have shifted to the left in many countries throughout the region. Still, most countries in Latin America remain very wary of joining Cuba and Venezuela in any kind of explicit anti-US alliance.

What this means for Latin America is that it will be more expensive for countries like Brazil and Mexico, with big external financing needs, to issue more bonds overseas. The market is simply very nervous.

It's a strong blow not only for Cuba, but also for all of the countries of Latin America, and Asia in particular.
