A shot on net ordsprog

en A shot on net is never a bad thing, especially in this league and in this rink. You get some funny bounces here. We want to put as many pucks on net as we can and get to the front of the net and jam home rebounds.

en Part of what we're trying to do is get pucks to the net and outwork teams along the boards, something we'd like to build on. But now pucks are just going to the net. Some of the time when we're getting a lot of those chances we're trying to get second and third opportunities. It's really just getting the bounces.

en We decided in our game plan we wanted to throw pucks at the net and see if we could get any rebounds. That's what we did, and we came out and threw pucks at the net. We got some tips and some goals.

en I think we need a bit more effort. Well, I know we need a bit more effort out there. I think that (the Wings) had some bounces that we didn't have. … They had some good bounces, but we've got to put a bit more effort out there to have a shot to beat one of those teams, one of the top three or four (squads) in the league.

en No, I don't. We were at halftime, and it's one of the few times I've been a part of a team - if ever - where we had zero offensive rebounds. That's why you have that funny feeling in the first half. Why was the game so hard? Because we only got one shot every single time. We never got a second shot. We're going to continue to work in that area.

en We're looking forward to a home game. A home game for us is great because of the size of the rink and playing in front of the home crowd.

en We've got to go to bed ready to get up and play. When we get to the rink, it's the same thing. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. Get there, get ready to go out and have fun. It's a great place to go play. It's the best rink in the league. We should be excited to get out there and play.

en Why not? We've played the best teams in our league tough. Our league is kind of funny because you never know how it's going to unfold. I think we're going to be in good shape as long as we take care of business at home, and we've got to get it rolling on the road.

en I thought they took some funny-angle shots in the beginning, trying to catch me. But the rebounds just bounced out from those angles and you're going to give up some rebounds, but our defense was right there to clear them away.

en We can get 300-400 people here in Walter Brown. Knowing the bounces, playing in our own rink and the crowd noise from the fans help everybody play better.

en The funny thing about the league this year is that I really believe there are seven teams who can get on a roll and win it. It's not the league of the past nine years where Liberty is just head and shoulders above everyone else. They can get knocked off just as easily as we could, or any other school in the conference.

en I didn't know if we had the fortitude to win those grit-type games that go on in the Horizon League, especially when you shoot just 35%. They're not there yet, but they had glimpses. Getting 19 offensive rebounds gives you a chance. Getting them to turn the ball over 14 times gives you a chance. I think the other thing is holding them to 37% shooting. It showed some growth in that they mustered up some pride on their home floor and gritted it out.

en That's always tough to swallow, especially in your home rink. Things have to change. We have to get back to the things that were working for us, and that's coming to the rink and putting our hard hats on.

en (Yesterday) was as close as I'm going to get to a regular-season game -- pitching against my old team and pitching in front of a crowd you like pitching in front of. It's just funny, man. You look across the field and see all the guys you've been playing with the last few years. It's like playing against your neighbor in Little League or something. It's hard to keep a straight face.
