There is no reason that any voice application will not be able to run on a Symbol device once all companies move to the standard Windows platform. From an equipment standpoint, there is audio capability in nearly all handhelds. They all can run voice or text-to-speech applications.

It works with radios but could be adapted for voice-over-IP and could also bring radio channels on to laptops. The ideal would be any voice to any voice.

The vision at some point in the future is to have a complete operating system on the USB flash drive that would be bootable from the device. You could bring your computing environment with you -- your operating system, data and applications.

This is a purposeful device to help businesses manage data. And if a catastrophe strikes, there's peace of mind because you can retrieve the image and restore it to the PC or another device.

The intelligence to know what the attributes of the device are in terms of its output characteristics, and then do the transformation of [data] from a potentially more robust source [to a format] the device can understand -- that would be a major service.

Cell phones are the lifeline for teenagers. They just can't imagine life without them, ... It's not just a communication device for teens; it's an entertainment device.

There will be an additional need for more tower space in the next three years as wireless data services ramp up. Data travels shorter distances than voice so companies will need to add more sites to ensure the quality of their networks.

And for some time now, we've also had the ability to disable the device from getting more e-mail. Then there's the ability for the administrator to wipe stored data remotely by sending a 'poison pill' to that device.

Blue&Me, with speech technology from Nuance, is safe and simple to use. The voice command system, which is completely integrated with the steering wheel controls and information display, allows customers to use the phone - or USB mass storage device - in a safer, more comfortable environment. We continue to investigate additional voice-enabled applications for this great system.
