I'm more of a four-seam pitcher. I need to establish that on both sides of the plate, up and down, before I can do anything else.

He was outstanding. He didn't really overthrow. He used his fastball on both sides of the plate, two-seam and four-seam. He was a lot of fun to watch.

Good hitters want to extend their arms, they want to take away the inside of the plate and look middle-to-away. If a pitcher can establish the inside of the plate, it keeps a hitter honest.

I need to be able to establish the fastball to both sides of the plate, ... When I couldn't get that pitch inside, they were able to hit.

He's a big-game pitcher and a big competition pitcher. He pitches well against everybody, and not just the smaller lineups. He had some guys at the plate tonight with a lot of RBIs, and he made them look uncomfortable.

I was able to make pitches right from the get-go. The biggest focus is trying to establish the strike zone early with my two-seam fastball and throw some changeups.

That's what happens when you feel good from both sides of the plate, ... He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. I've tried to be patient and have concentration. And I'm healthy. I'm going to home plate to get on base no matter how.

Blake Martin's a great pitcher. The problem with him was that he hadn't thrown strikes in the past. Today he did. When he throws the ball across the plate he's a very, very good pitcher. You've got to tip your hat to him.

He can change sides and he has great pressure from both sides. He's always jamming you, pushing you, lifting you, putting you down. It's very hard to establish a position where you can score from him. That makes him very difficult.

If he can pound the strike zone with strikes, he's a big-league pitcher. If he can't, he's not. I can make that (decision) pretty simple. If he throws the ball over the plate, he's a big-league pitcher.

Stealing isn't just speed. Most of it is knowing the pitcher and knowing what a guy does. He might dip his head before he goes to the plate or he might drop his hands slightly before he goes to the plate or his feet are narrow when he goes to first or he might slide-step.

He's a great pitcher. He's a Hall of Fame pitcher. But he's got to throw the ball over the plate and we have to try to hit it. If he makes a mistake, we have to hit it, not miss it. We have to find a way to get deep into the game and get deep into the pitch count and get him out. It's not going to be an easy task.

Mine is a power sinker. Mine seems more like a fastball; it has more four-seam action. It stays on a straight plane until it gets closer to the plate.

Against a good quality seam attack not only us, anyone could have faced a problem. Asif hit the seam on the deck regularly at the right line and I have no doubt his bowling in both innings made the difference.
