I talked to Richie at the time it happened, and we felt if it was going to completely heal, it was going to take about six weeks. You just hope nothing happens to him and he can get through the rest of the month.

They tell me I could rest two weeks and maybe play two, three, four games. And then I'd have to sit out another two weeks to let it heal. I can't afford to do that the rest of the year. I might as well get it fixed now and be ready for the playoff stretch.

Richie is about two weeks from throwing off the mound. Pauly is a little behind him, probably a month away.

So far this month we achieved 1.58 for the average of the first 18 days, and hope we can be for the rest of month we'll be close to 1.5-1.6. For the second half, we hope to do 1.6, maybe a little bit higher towards the end of the year.

It's a significant injury. We're hopeful that it will heal within six weeks. We hope to know that it's healing, but it may not heal. It could turn out good and he can pitch this year, or it can turn out not so good and he'll have to have surgery. We just don't know right now.

It is interesting having two weeks off in one month, especially a month where we've had very few home games. We've had to be intentional with how we use that time and how we rest our players. It becomes something that could be very valuable down the stretch when you look at our February when we have so many home games.
