To our credit we ordsprog

en To our credit, we laid off some pitches. They all had heard the hype, too. There was nothing really said about it, but you could tell in the dugout that they were going to take the game seriously.

en Every time he pitches, ... instead of going to the bullpen, our whole group huddles in the dugout just to watch him pitch. It's something our bullpen has done since he started here. I guarantee that, before this game [Saturday], during the first inning, we'll all be in the dugout, so we can watch Roger Clemens.

en When you give up four runs to the Yankees, and it's the third inning at 4-0, the thought crosses your mind that the game could be over. You tell yourself it's over or you try to fight back. I sat in the dugout after the third inning and I had thrown 66 pitches. I felt I had about 40 pitches left, and if I could put up three zeros, we'd still have a chance.

en I heard he was going to the dugout. If you go off the field you're out? There'd be a lot of football players coming out of our dugout.

en The kid had good stuff. I was sitting in the dugout wondering how many pitches to give him for a chance at his no-no. I was in a quandary. I probably would have let him go to 130 pitches, but we'll never know.

en I'm still making a lot of pitches for the amount of innings I'm pitching. When I'm on, I don't need that many pitches. When things start to go wrong, I don't feel that confident about my pitches. They're coming around, but I'm not there yet. So all of the credit goes to my teammates and how well they have done behind me.

en I've never heard 43,000 people get so quiet so quickly, ... You could barely hear and then boom, the only noise you heard was our dugout.

en Our guys did a great job of getting pitches to hit. They laid off pitchers' pitches.

en You know they had all the hype coming into the game and we felt they didn't deserve it. And I think again, they have a lot more hype than they should, and we're going to continue to play as hard as we can. I'm not downplaying the Carolina Panthers, but I'm up-playing us.

en He's really made great strides in his maturity level and game knowledge. All the philosophies we've been talking about - you know, strike zone awareness, seeing more pitches, things like that - it's always up to the player to take it in and apply it to their game. He's done that, and it's a big credit to him. He's really caught on quick.

en We didn't stop the bleeding. You give them the credit. They hit some good pitches and we made some bad pitches.

en I thought, like our dugout did, I thought we had him there. Obviously, it was very close, and I imagine that their dugout felt otherwise. It was a tight game and so, naturally, I'm going to see that in our favor.

en In the dugout you see some of the facial expressions up close and you see that intensity. Don't be confused by their laid-back, California personality. These guys compete.

en What people say, it shouldn't matter. They're going to hype whoever they're going to hype - some deservedly so. But it shouldn't affect one player's performance or passion for the game.
