To our credit, we laid off some pitches. They all had heard the hype, too. There was nothing really said about it, but you could tell in the dugout that they were going to take the game seriously.

He's really made great strides in his maturity level and game knowledge. All the philosophies we've been talking about - you know, strike zone awareness, seeing more pitches, things like that - it's always up to the player to take it in and apply it to their game. He's done that, and it's a big credit to him. He's really caught on quick.

We didn't stop the bleeding. You give them the credit. They hit some good pitches and we made some bad pitches.

I thought, like our dugout did, I thought we had him there. Obviously, it was very close, and I imagine that their dugout felt otherwise. It was a tight game and so, naturally, I'm going to see that in our favor.

In the dugout you see some of the facial expressions up close and you see that intensity. Don't be confused by their laid-back, California personality. These guys compete.

What people say, it shouldn't matter. They're going to hype whoever they're going to hype - some deservedly so. But it shouldn't affect one player's performance or passion for the game.
