I've started a dozen companies in a variety of areas of specialty. Our new city government needs people with entrepreneurship.

The big guys, like Starbucks, paved the way for specialty coffee. Now people are looking to learn more and (want) a wider variety of specialty beans, both single-origins and blends. Five years ago, people would come into the store and ask for something strong or something mild. Now they want Guatemalan Antigua or Brazilian Bourbon.

We have had actually a decline in government service overall, but the growth is in high-tech areas, specialty areas in the Labor Department and other departments.

Small presses are really an amorphous market. There is a range of companies from the Fortune 500 to information and technology to trade associations down to specialty areas, and they have a loyal following.

With so much media consolidation, less than a dozen companies now own most of the newspapers, magazines, books and TV stations. Local public access centers have become the only place where average people can go to get their message and stories across and petition their government for change.

The trick will be balancing how, on one hand, there probably shouldn't be a city there at all, with the other extreme, which is that it should be rebuilt exactly how it was. Most people, including myself, think it should be somewhere in between. I think the happy medium could be rethinking flood control, making the city more secure than it is now, but making it so that some areas outside the city, some of the marshy, rural areas, are just left to nature.

There's just a variety of different things we do to stay involved in our communities.

It gives America's native ingenuity and private-sector entrepreneurship the help they need from government that will enable them to build a new century of progress and upward mobility for the American people.

There are going to be areas of the state where the economics may be poor, and those are the areas where we need government intervention. The opportunity is there for the government to partner with private industry in those areas where market economics are considered questionable for natural development.

We started Scrabble night in February of this year. It's a new program. We have about a dozen people.
