2002 was and amazing year in the housing sector. The annual average for the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rate this year was about 6.5 percent, the lowest annual average in more than 31 years. That was the primary factor that led to an incredible amount of home building, home sales, and refinancing, all of which helped keep the economy from another recession.

John has had an outstanding career on the field of play, but equally outstanding is the work, support and dedication he and his wife, Dyan, have contributed to the Atlanta community. Their good deeds have been exemplary and in keeping with the tradition of the man for whom this award is named.

She is almost single-handedly responsible for the existence of this organization. She started it and has stayed with it longer than anyone. She was very instrumental in not only the formation but in the continuation of the organization. Though she is not officially a member of the board, she attends every board meeting and is involved in the day to day operations. She provides a lot of training and keeps us up on the trends and research related to prevention.

We've been in the IHSAA for four years and Doc was instrumental in building this program. I was a good friend of Doc and it's great to bring something home that he started. This was a very satisfying year, but this is the first time we've felt like celebrating.

These results are thrilling for our entire membership each year.
