It is the first time that President Bush has said he would use his influence for the formation of a Palestinian state, ... The deadline is not important when he uses such strong words.

This is a lot of very harsh sounding words that have very little bite. But there is a sense what the government of Israel plans to do once there is a cabinet. It's a flashing red light to the Palestinians and [Palestinian President Mahmoud] Abbas regarding the formation of the government.

We expect President Bush to implement his own vision of a two-state solution, the birth of the Palestinian State and the ending of the occupation that started in 1967.

They are expecting a Palestinian state on President George W. Bush 's clock.

At the same time, it doesn't cost President Bush anything to attack the Palestinians and to take sides with Israelis against the Palestinian Authority because of internal politics. And this can't be acceptable.

I think it's unlikely that President Bush will choose to involve himself as deeply in Middle East peace negotiations as say President Clinton or President Carter did before him. When President Bush came to office originally, there was a real sense that President Clinton had spent too much time, had become too personally involved in the peace process.
