en [• When Ryan Franklin worked a full count on Adam Kennedy with runners on first and third in the sixth inning on Saturday, it was a situation in which he usually would challenge with a fastball. Instead, he threw a change, and got Kennedy to roll over it for an easy ground-ball out.] I've decided I'm not going to be too proud to go soft when there are men on, ... When there's no one on base, I'll go right after them as I usually do.

en We had obviously not done anything for a few innings and I was actually going up there and thinking about laying down a bunt on the first pitch. Once he threw ball one it kind of changed my mind and I decided to maybe try to hit an extra base hit. I figured being ahead in the count, maybe I was going to get a fastball. Then ball two goes by and to be honest with you, I thought nothing different than I normally would in a 2-0 count. (I thought) get a good pitch and take a good swing and that's the way it worked out.

en He was dynamite, he had it all. His fastball, he threw a good breaking-ball, then his change-up. He threw from behind in the count. He's pitching beyond his age, that's for sure.

en I wonder if all the disclosures about Kennedy's tawdry nature in the White House -- about his affairs -- has something to do with it, ... I think that the comparisons being drawn between Clinton and Kennedy do not look favorably on either of them, and I think people may have lost some of their respect for Kennedy. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. en He threw one inning as planned with no difficulty. He also threw off the mound on Saturday with a full bullpen [session] without any problems. We decided to get him in a Minor League game first, just to make sure, and the knee looked good.

en I think Kennedy has done a wonderful job and he has handled his situation very professionally, and even had some success. I support Kennedy 100 percent, but as to whether he should be hired I shouldn't answer that. That's up to the administration.

en I thought Brian threw very well. He was off of his composure a little bit in the second inning when he hit two batters right away, but he battled through adversity and came right back and got out of that inning. He threw the ball well. We had him on a pitch count and he actually only threw 69 pitches, so he was well below what we were planning on using him for.

en Professor Kennedy was involved in a minor car accident where a woman leaving her car was slightly injured. As routine, the police arrived at the scene and took Prof. Kennedy into the station for further questioning and tests Professor Kennedy is deeply upset that any injury may have been caused by the accident.

en In the fifth or sixth they made an adjustment and were looking in, and if I threw away, they were letting the ball go. I didn't really figure that out till the fifth or sixth inning.

en Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy, I knew Jack Kennedy. Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy.

en I was proud of them for getting through it. We just hit the baseball last night. It was a close game for the first couple of innings. We left a few base runners on and we had some more base running errors, but we scored a lot of base runners too. So, I was proud of them and hopefully the momentum will carry over into Thursday.

en We got runners on base in that sixth inning, but we didn't do a good enough job of getting them in. If we had scored a few more runs then, it might have made a difference.

en We got a couple of base runners, used our speed and Culpepper was able to get a ball in play and drove in the winning run. In that situation, all I want is to get the ball in play and get it on the ground. Then we have a good shot to get the run in there.

en This will really challenge our ability to hold runners. Our pitchers are going to need to change their looks and control the base runners.

en Mac struggled. We were lucky to get the sixth inning from him. His pitch count was getting up there (he threw 130 pitches, including 36 in the first), so I wasn't going to let him go past six.
