We didn't want another Kent State. They weren't trained for crowd control.

I look forward to continuing my coaching career at Kent State. My goal, as it has been since the day I arrived at Kent State, is to continue the tradition our program has developed. We will strive to maintain the high level of excellence Kent State basketball has achieved in recent years.

He reminds me of Jeff Kent -- I saw him in A ball in the Florida State League. Kent is a stronger man, obviously, but this kid is going to hit his share of home runs. He has power, and he's going to be an excellent second baseman. He has more range than Kent.

I think there is going to be a good crowd at Kent State on Sunday. They've really been promoting the match and I expect a lot of the Cleveland-area kids to come out since it's a Sunday. It should be a good crowd and a good atmosphere.

I'm going to Michigan State now. It did take a while for me to decide. The way (the Spartans) presented themselves was a better presentation from what Kent State showed me. What Kent State showed me wasn't the kind of receiver I am. What Michigan State showed me was more like what I did in high school.

We kind of flipped the script. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. Everybody was saying we weren't supposed to be here and were looking for an Akron-Kent State final.

We wanted to win these last two games (after a loss at Kent State) to feel good about ourselves. If we didn't win this game, I think our heads would be turning a little.

We weren't trained to occupy a defensive position in the front lines. We were trained to patrol and get information about the enemy.

We're definitely looking forward to wrestling at home again. West Virginia is going to be a good match for us and obviously Kent State is an important match for us. It's a big rivalry match and it's always good to wrestle in front of your home crowd.

Kent got forced off the road. He didn't want to be in a fight. With everything that we know about the case and what happened, and we know Kent, he would not have provoked a fight. If it turned into a fight, he was defending himself.

That is the character of the team that Sloan and Marquis Johnson didn't get into the game until the end and weren't afraid. They paid attention and did what I asked them to do and got the job done. They didn't get rattled by the crowd.

Who knows what he's going to do. It's two different programs. You go from Kent State to Michigan State, that's two different worlds. He owes it to himself to go there, take a look and see what they have to offer.

We weren't really trying to go that hard. We didn't care about winning or losing; we just wanted to have some fun and play to the crowd.

I thought the crowd was great. We were down early and things weren't going our way. The crowd's enthusiasm got us back in the game.

I saw [State Radio] at Irving Plaza in New York City over winter break. They played to a sold-out crowd among other acts, and State Radio was the band the crowd got into the most.
