Wrestling is just something David does well, but it does not consume him. David thinks and acts with the team concept and has an agenda for the team, not for self. Because he took his record to several of the toughest tournaments in the country and won, I believe he is the best four-year undefeated wrestler to come out of Florida.

If David and his doctors say he can play, the captain shouldn't play doctor. I'd love to have his experience and have him play, but it's up to David to make that decision. My guess is David will be able to tell me by [tonight]. If I was in David's position, I'd say it's not fair to you or the team to let it go beyond [tonight], and I think David will do that.

Jack Nicklaus (1940-)

Robbie brings hard work to our wrestling team. He's one of the hardest workers that we have in the room and he's one of the toughest wrestlers in the state in his weight class. Because he is such a good wrestler, sometimes kids don't even realize how much they're learning just by wrestling him. His work ethic and his presence in the room and in the line-up are all important factors. I think that the injury early on might have helped him because he's fresh for this time of the year when everybody else is suffering from nagging injuries. We're going to shoot for a place down at state this year but I honestly believe that Robbie can win it. You have to set your goals high. I think he's learned from last year. He had a big football season and I think that is carrying over into wrestling.

I think David is a true student of the game. I told him (before Connecticut), 'David, if you keep just going to the jump hook and not going up and under and not making head fakes and going the other way, they're going to play that.' So right away he alters that and goes to different things. … He's very mature, David, on a very immature team.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

At times, it could have been easy for David to be negative and say that he's tired of carrying the team. But that's not his style. David's a team guy, and he wants to make this work. He's learning how to play with teammates better.

Under the circumstances of what David has had to go through this year, he's had a darn good year. And he's done it under the most trying circumstances you can imagine. His threshold for pain is kind of incredible. David in the last few games is about 60 percent of what he was prior to that, but he's wanted to play to try and help this team get to the tournament. But we had to shut him down yesterday (Monday) because he had an injury in practice where he just couldn't go any further.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

I haven't been able to say to David Noel what I want to say to him. … Many times a senior will say 'It's my turn' to the detriment of the team. David Noel has never put anything ahead of his team.

It's obviously a grave day for David. He spent over a decade in that building, where today he's going to be arraigned. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. Everyone who knows David thinks the world of him.

David was telling me he's going to play and that's it, ... David has had this condition for quite a while. It's not a life-threatening situation. It's whether he handles the new medication. He thinks he can.

I've had good results working with David on committees and on things that need to be passed. David is a man who in my opinion listens to what the people have to say, and he thinks about what's got to be done.

Being named outstanding wrestler talks about his character as well as his wrestling skills. When coaches talk about David, they always talk about what a great person he is first and that means more to me than anything because that's what will take him a long way in life.

Some guys (came) as advertised. C.C. (Coco Crisp) at the top of the lineup, Mark generating runs, David doing what David always does, Coco made a great catch in the ninth inning. This is a very good team. Offensively, we?re going to give you nine at-bats that are going to wear you out. Later in the game, the third time through this lineup, it?s very tough to get this team out.

It feels great, especially against an undefeated team from the Big 12. They're not undefeated for no reason. Now, they have a blemish on their record, and it's thanks to us and our team.

You look at a player with this much ability and this is the first year he has averaged more than 13 points per game. And the reason is, because we have a team concept and he was content with being part of a team and helping others. That's how he is. He thinks of others, a lot.

It's one of the toughest tournaments in the state. Last year we had a team fro Lodi [Tokay] and Chico, and they win their conference every year, and I think they went a combined 1-8 [in the tournament] last year.
