I'd like people to laugh but still seriously think about what the characters are going through and how that may relate to their own lives. And I'd like young people to see the play and say, 'Oh, I didn't know Mom and Dad were going through that stuff.'

en Rather than Dick Tracy characters that you laugh at and find funny but don't relate to, (you have) real characters, more relatable to the audience.
