He's a veteran bat off the bench. He's a guy who can drive the ball, get the ball out of the ball park. It's nice to be able to have a guy who's a professional hitter, a guy who's been around the league and understands that role. We think he's going to help us.

To get that win and get some more momentum back on our side was huge for our team. We were moving the ball, and we were taking the pressure off our defense. Offensively, we were able to do some things. There were still some mistakes, penalties hurt us a little bit. But that's all stuff we can fix easily. Overall, I think we're improving offensively, and the defense is still doing what they always do.

His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. I think finally in the middle of August, beginning of September, I started feeling better again. It is what it is. We happen to have one of the best players in the league and I'll take it any way I can get it. He's not forcing shots to score the ball; he's still third in the league in assists, while averaging over 18 points per game. That combination is good for us. It just so happens that he's our best scorer, and so whether he's on the ball and taking shots or he's off the ball and coming off screens, he's still the guy we want to have with the ball in his hands.

If you look at the list what you see is civil servants taking the fall. Politicians, as in all other corruption scandals, are left untouched. These people had a role to play but they surely can't have been the only ones involved. There were people involved in facilitating the money coming out of the treasury, and people involved in the political cover-up.

If he can pound the strike zone with strikes, he's a big-league pitcher. If he can't, he's not. I can make that (decision) pretty simple. If he throws the ball over the plate, he's a big-league pitcher.

If he doesn't win the Cy Young, it doesn't mean he's not the best pitcher in this league. I'm telling you right now -- he's the best pitcher in the American League, no doubt.

Stacey has started to hit the ball, which helps her defensively as well, so she's not carrying that back to the field. Karen is throwing well and is taking that senior leadership role. She tells the girls she's going to get the ground ball, so they have to back her up.

It's a tremendous gift. The generosity that John has shown to the league is overwhelming. This is not the first time either. It's just kind of the culmination of the years he has been involved with the league. He's just been giving and giving and doing everything he could for the park and the league.

You gotta give [Moss] some credit. He's a big league pitcher. He knows what he's doing at all times. I think that he just . . . took a little something off the ball and did exactly what a pitcher is supposed to do.

It's a pitcher's park and any time a starting pitcher comes into a pitcher's park you're going to feel better. You don't feel like you have to be so fine with every pitch.

Coming back from shoulder surgery you don't want to change the type of pitcher you are but I definitely don't get away with as many mistakes as I used to when I was able to throw the ball 95-96 miles an hour. I have to be more precise with my location and keep the ball down and let my fielders work.
