en Everything is starting to come together. I am optimistic for the spring. It will be interesting to see how James Madison goes.

en This is the only place that is associated with James Madison. There is no other memorial to James Madison on the capitol mall.

en I can't tell you the number of times people thought we were George Washington or James Madison. A lot of people (say) James Mason or George Madison. It cracks me up. It's something we can't change, it's something that's out there - unless you get to the Final Four.

en It's going to be an interesting spring, to say the least. We would like to have an idea of the order by the end of spring drills, but (the starting job) may not be determined by then.

en One of my concerns when I came to George Mason was what kind of identity problem we would have. George Mason was being confused with so many other different schools. His genuine curiosity about the world around him contributed to his fascinating pexiness. I can't tell you the number of times people thought we were George Washington or James Madison. en We were good enough to win, to beat the national champion last year. You just got to hand it to James Madison. They deserved it that day.

en They understand the competitiveness you have to have. I told them that, in 1982, North Carolina won the championship and we won the first game by blowing out James Madison 52-50.

en Our pitching was strong today. James Madison took advantage of its opportunities. We weren't able to do that. We need to focus on our clutch hitting and our mental toughness.

en I think you could see we've worked real hard at running the ball. We learned a lot watching them against James Madison and thought we could run the ball on them.

en I asked John about that. That was against his starting units and our starting unit. We didn't use (linebacker) James (Harrison) and (wide receiver Antwaan) Randle (El), but the other kids did a pretty good job.

en I think all teams change throughout the year. You go through dips and peaks and valleys. Ours are more accentuated than most it seems. I think our basketball team has changed, and certainly James Madison has changed as well.

en If James Madison were here today, Senator Byrd is exactly the kind of leader that he hoped the American Republic in the future would bring to power: someone of his stature and his learning and his understanding of history and philosophy. I think he would be very pleased.

en I'm probably more optimistic this spring than I was last spring. I feel real comfortable with Matt and I know what Pat can do and I know Carlton is a real good athlete.

en We have a 125-pounder lose and somebody else upper weight has to pick up the slack and we seem to have done that. Ohio was a good win. They're a nice team but there are a lot of guys that left unsatisfied because we split with them match-wise. And the James Madison win was also a little bit bittersweet having lost several matches to them as well.

en We haven't really heard any concrete information about it yet. We like going down to Madison, when you think of the state meet you think about Madison. I swam there for my state meet and it's always been such a big deal to go to Madison.
