en Throughout the losses, we've told the kids to just keep playing hard and concentrate. We had our best game of the year. We needed to get our confidence back and this was the game to do it.

en We've taken a slide the last couple of games. We're trying to get back to where we were at the beginning of the season. We're trying to get guys having fun, concentrate on doing the right things during the game and playing hard. Even though it's Arizona (and not an ACC team) it's a big game for us confidence-wise and to get back on track.

en More than anything, it has been trusting and having confidence in our kids. It has been a lot of fun this year. Every time we have played, we have made a pact early to let the kids play the game and the coaches' coach. That is really what we did all year long. We have changed up some routines to enjoy it more. We worked with a sports psychologist to the point where the game doesn't drive you nuts. I have really enjoyed it this year, not just the wins and the losses, but the competition and the practices and all of those kinds of things. It's a learning process that we all go through.

en Before the game, we told our kids our backs were against the wall. This was the most important game of the year. If we wanted to go to the NCAA Tournament, we needed to win. And the kids responded. They have an excellent opportunity ahead of them.

en Like I told my kids, what a great game to build (upon) going into next year. I thought our kids played about as hard and about as good as we could. If we could have eliminated penalties I think we might have won the game.

en I like the way we are playing right now. We started playing well at Wayne County and we told the kids after the game that we needed to build on that win. We seemed to be doing that.

en Obviously, it is very comforting to know that David McKee returns, ... Having David back gives us a real solid base to build our team around. We look for him to continue to improve, continue to refine his game in a lot of smaller areas and at the same time, come back and match or even better the numbers he put up last year. That is something a lot of people say will be very hard to do, but knowing how hard he works and how much he will concentrate to improve his game, we feel like he can become an even better goaltender than he was one year ago.

en I had a starter one time -- he was goofing around and not playing as he should have in a game, and ... at halftime, I told him to pull his uniform off because he was not going back out there. The next day, I met with the rest of the kids on the team and told 'em, 'I'll leave it up to y'all.' They said, 'Coach, we don't need him.' That was the end of his playing for us.

en I told them at the one timeout, we're not out of this game. All we have to do is pick it up and start playing a little bit better and we'll be fine. I think we did that. We executed a little bit better on the offensive end. We got it back to the tempo of the game we wanted. We gave ourselves the cushion we needed.

en I'm proud of what we have accomplished. Winning districts back-to-back is hard. This is a tribute to our guys, who have been ready to play in every game. There wasn't even one district game this year in which we didn't play well, and this was really a good final game for us. Hopefully, we'll go into the playoffs with some confidence.

en We kind of went into (the game) blind. We told the kids we were going to show up and lay it out (on the court), but in a lot of ways, it was a confidence builder. I didn't know what to expect, the kids played hard and very competitive.

en It was hard for me for Valerie not to be playing. But she told us [before the game] we needed to get through it, and she'd be there to cheer us on.

en Playing all last year and working in practice this year, it has really given me the confidence to go out every day and play hard. With each game, it has given me a chance to play more and learn more things. You can see where your game can go. It's always testing you.

en I knew I needed the knee surgery but I'd go by a field and see kids out there playing and I missed it very much. Last year, I went to games as a spectator wanting to get back into it—it's just a love of the game of baseball my father passed on to me.
